Reducing a booking from two containers to one: what else must change?
Work through a 2 × 40HC to 1 × 40HC amendment, including equipment instructions, record checks and unresolved charges.

A reduction from 2 × 40HC to 1 × 40HC changes quantity while retaining the equipment type. A change to another container type needs its own equipment decision. The amendment record should make that distinction explicit.

Discuss this amendment
01 / THE REQUEST
The shipper changes the container requirement after booking. The operator establishes the equipment already booked, the quantity now required and whether any equipment-type change is also requested.
02 / THE RECORD
03 / PROPOSED WORKFLOW
Record original and requested values as separate fields.
Separate quantity reduction, partial cancellation and equipment substitution in the request.
Prepare the amendment and any cost decision for the nominated approver.
Compare the returned quantity and equipment type with the approved request and record any downstream actions.
04 / AUTHORITY
The nominated person approves the requested quantity and equipment, any partial cancellation and the accepted charge position. Equipment suitability and cargo requirements remain an operator decision.
05 / COMPLETION
The carrier’s returned confirmation matches the approved quantity and equipment type. Relevant release, haulage and document actions have named owners; charges are recorded as confirmed, disputed, awaiting quotation or otherwise unresolved.
06 / EXCEPTIONS
A partial acceptance, equipment substitution, changed fee or unchanged booking goes back to the operator. An unanswered charge question is not recorded as a zero-cost amendment.

We would follow a quantity amendment through the customer instruction, the carrier request, the returned booking and any equipment or charge follow-up. We would use that review to agree a workflow map, recurring failure points and a proposed pilot scope.
